Il Giro d’Abruzzo 2026, Stage 3: Route, Favourites and TV Coverage

16/09/2026

After two intense days of racing, Il Giro d’Abruzzo 2026 should finally see the first — and only — bunch sprint of the week. The route from Oricola (Piana del Cavaliere) to San Benedetto dei Marsi should provide the sprinters with their opportunity, and they will not want to miss their chance to make their mark.

The Route

After the start in Oricola, the route climbs towards the Valico Colle Civitella before passing through Magliano de’ Marsi, Celano and Gioia dei Marsi on the way to San Benedetto dei Marsi, where the riders will tackle a 27.7 km circuit featuring gentle undulations. The finishing straight rises slightly, but the fast men are still almost certain to fight it out for the win.

The Favourites

Dorian Godon (Netcompany Ineos) will be looking to make amends after the disappointment of Caramanico Terme, where he dominated the bunch sprint but could only take second place. Among those likely to challenge him for the win are Fernando Gaviria (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA), who has come to Abruzzo specifically for this stage, as well as Xabier Berasategi (Euskaltel Euskadi), Luca Colnaghi (Bardiani CSF 7 Saber) and potentially Tommaso Dati (Team Ukyo) and Niccolò Arrighetti (General Store-Essegibi-F.lli Curia).
