QUOTES
Speaking seconds after the stage finish, the stage winner and first Maglia BiancoVerdeBlu Alessandro Covi said: “It’s super nice to be a winner again. It’s difficult to do it again after three years but we are professionals, we work every day for winning one time, maybe two or three… When I got Il Giro d’Abruzzo on my race programme, I checked the course as I do before every race and I realised that this finale was a good opportunity for me. With the team, we did what we had to do to make a small group arrive to the finish. We rode perfectly and I won the sprint. It was hard but every race is. I rode the last kick all in from the bottom to the finish. I’ve had some bad luck in the past but it’s not worth looking back. I look at the present and the future. I’m happy to be back at a good level”.
