A mountain stage with multiple climbs. After a short uphill start, the riders face the climb to Forcella di Acciano (long stretches over 10%). The route then includes the Valico di San Leonardo and the Forca di Penne before the final climb into Penne. Mountain roads dominate the stage, often narrow with some technical descents.  
Final kilometers 
The final 5 km are uphill. The steepest section kicks in at 3 km to go, with gradients reaching 10%, lasting until the final corner. From there, it’s a 200 m asphalt straight to the line, 7 meters wide.
